website
- Care2 is a website that I've been going to for ages - at least six years now. Care2 represents aid for the environment, health, human welfare, animals, education, women, and more.
- To help out for free, you can visit daily to click on links that
use your click to get money for a certain cause. This program is called
Click to Donate
and consists of the:
Race to Stop Global Warming
Race for the Rainforest
Race to Save Baby Seals
Race for the Oceans
Race for the Big Cats
Race for the Primates
Race to Help Children in Need
Race for Pets in Need
Stop Violence Against Women
Climb to End Breast Cancer - So, what you can do for free is go and click each and every single of one those links daily.
- Besides visiting and clicking daily, Care2 has what is called the Daily Action. Every day there is a new "action" that you can do - by clicking on the Daily Action, you are agreeing to participate somehow in what they're asking you to do. The Daily Action ranges from reading information articles, finding out ways to help the environment (and etc.), calling Senators or other officials, or signing petitions, and even more. And, if you don't want to do their designated daily action, you can simply scroll down and click on a link to substitute that!
- If you'd like to track your progress, then you can sign up. By signing up you also get to choose an e-mail address. Nifty, huh??
- On Care2 you can also sign a bunch of petitions (which requires you to provide your personal information). Okay, so we've all heard that supposedly petitions don't work. But you never know. Taking 2 seconds to sign one doesn't hurt, does it? Care2 shows a whole list of " action alerts" - as they call them - that you can sign for. If you're a member, once you take the action, they'll put a butterfly next to it, meaning you've completed that action. So as time progresses you can see how many actions you've taken - it's quite rewarding! So, go here and sign their petitions and take action!
- A new feature of Care2 is a community called Green Living.
If you visit it, you will see there are new articles daily of ways to live "green;" or, in other words, live
environmentally friendly. There are many links you can explore here; one that I like is
personal environmental impact,
where you can find many solutions or articles on ways to live healthily and well. I also find their alternatives to
getting around to places rational and interesting. They tell you the
benefits of biking and, if you'd like to participate in grassroots advocacy, you can visit
here to see what you can do in your community to promote biking.
To learn more about what you can do transportation-wise, visit the environment issues page of this site.
